Washed in the Hurricane looks beyond “The City in the Forest” to an entire civilization embedded in the natural world. Part 1 transports the reader into wild places far from civilization. Part 2 explores the many ways nature pervades the human world. Part 3 tracks the causes and repercussions of climate change. Part 4 is a prose essay weaving Wing’s personal journey into a larger quest, tracing the art of poetry from its prehistoric origins to its unique potential in an age of ecological breakdown.
