HAPPY NATIONAL POETRY MONTH!
Sunday April 6: Blackstrap Psychic Fair, 12:00 noon-5:00 pm at Blackstrap Rock Hall (852 Main Street SW, Gainesville Ga. 30501). I’ll be giving away “free poetry samples,” offering one-on-one poetry readings (sorry, not psychic readings) and hopefully selling a few books. Strictly an experiment!
Wed. April 9: Interview on WRFG Community Radio, 6:00-7:00 pm, with Dr. Carrie Freeman on her show “In Tune With Nature” (89.3 FM or WRFG.org). I’ll be reading from my book Washed in the Hurricane and discussing the ecological impact of climate denial from the White House and how we can respond.
Wed. April 16: Land Trust Open Mike at the Lake Claire Community Land Trust, 7:00-9:00 pm, with co-host Nick Newell (270 Arizona Ave. NE Atlanta 30307). All spoken word artists, acoustic musicians, comedians, jugglers etc. welcome, five minutes each. Keep it family-friendly, please. Sign up when you arrive.
Thurs. April 17: Thrive Outside Day at Cascade Springs Nature Preserve in SW Atlanta, an educational event for youth, sponsored by West Atlanta Watershed Alliance. (Still tentative.)
Sat. April 19: “Earth Poetry for Earth Day,” 3:00-5:00 pm at the Shambhala Meditation Center with poets Debra Hiers, Rupert Fike & A’nji Sarumi (1447 Church St., Decatur GA 30030). Celebrate our amazing home planet with readings from four very different poets! An open mike follows on the themes of nature and ecology.
